Bahamas Mission Trip

4 Weeks Out!

Posted by Larry Perry on

We are about 4 weeks away from sending out our mission team to the Bahamas. It is an exciting time for us as we continue to fundraise and prepare our missionaries to go out and “make disciples of all nations” as Jesus calls us to do in Matthew 28:19. Our church will be joining alongside 9 members of Riveroaks Presbyterian Church from Orlando, Florida. We will be combined as a team of 21 for a week. We are very excited to join alongside them as brothers and sisters in Christ to join Covenant Life Presbyterian Church as one body of believers. The Russels are eager for our arrival and is excited for our team to put on a camp for the community of Yellow Elder. The children will be rotating in different stations through the day and will also receive lunch. We will be having a sports station, a reading/writing station, a bible story/vbs station, a sports station, a music station where the kids will learn how to play the recorder and a chess station where we will teach them chess. This will naturally create a fun environment for the children as they will have many different activities to be engaged in, and we are praying that this creates an environment that the children feel comfortable in to open up, be themselves, and to hear and see the gospel. With a team of 21, we will be fully equipped with talents across the board to teach these kids well. Here are some prayer points to pray for in the next coming weeks.

Prayer Points
  • That Bahama’s customs will not have any problem getting us through. The government can be shaky at many times but the Russell’s know the best way to make this often complicated process as easy as can be. Pray that as they have not had problems in the past, that there will remain not to be any problems for our trip.
  • They have been experiencing some power outage. This can make our stay very hot. Pray that this will not be the case when we are there and that the Bahamian government will be able to fix this problem.
  • Pray for the kids to have an open heart that is ready and eager to learn. Pray that the Lord will continue to prepare their hearts to hear the gospel.
  • Pray that our team will in everything we do reflect Christ as best as we can. For many of these kids, we might be the only real life reflection of the gospel that they have seen. Let in everything that we do, they will not see us, but will see Christ.
